Meet LaToya Faustin
LaToya Faustin is the Chief Executive Officer of She Built This City (SBTC), where her strategic leadership has been instrumental in the organization’s growth and influence. Beginning her tenure as Chief Operating Officer in 2020, she quickly advanced to Executive Director and became CEO in June 2024. Throughout her time with SBTC, LaToya has driven innovation and inclusivity, helping the organization reach new heights. Her dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) earned her recognition in the 2023 Charlotte Business Journal's Power 100, 2024 QCity Metro’s Great 28 and the 2024 Growing the Dream Award.
With a background in Corporate Communications and Spanish, and an MBA from Elon University, LaToya is passionate about community service and economic development. As a Teach for America Alum, she has a heart for upward mobility initiatives and has completed a DEI certification from Cornell University, and a certification in Nonprofit Management from Duke University reinforcing her commitment to creating equitable and inclusive work environments and community development.
Under LaToya’s leadership, SBTC has launched key initiatives, including Vocational Job Training, Critical Home Repair, and Entrepreneurship Academy. She expanded partnerships with local government, community organizations and additional municipalities. She remains steadfast in her advocacy for dismantling barriers in the skilled trades, particularly for youth, women, and marginalized communities. In addition to her work at SBTC, LaToya serves as a Board Member for Dream Key Partners an affordable housing developer and her alma mater Elon University’s Alumni Board. As an author, motivational speaker and educator her vision and leadership continue to guide SBTC as it scales its programs and impact, ensuring that equity and innovation remain at the heart of its mission.
